Roseville Public Works, Environment and
Transportation Commission
Agenda Item
Date: February 22, 2022
Item Description: Local Sales Tax Project Review
Background:
Item No: 6
At their January 24, 2022 meeting, the Roseville City Council adopted a resolution requesting
authority for the state legislature to impose a 0.5% sales tax on all qualified sales within the City
of Roseville. The funds from that tax revenue would pay for the construction of a new
maintenance facility, a new license and passport center, and a pedestrian bridge over Hwy 36
along Snelling Ave.
If the City is granted the authority by the legislature, a question would be on the November 2022
ballot allowing residents to vote on each individual project listed above.
Attached is the City Council packet item for this topic. Staff will review the progression of this
ask, and review some projects that were deemed ineligible for this tax revenue but that the City
will work to find other funds to build.
Recommended Action:
Receive a presentation from staff on the proposed projects for the local sales tax and other
regional funding sources.
Attachments:
A: City Council Agenda Item from January 24, 2022 meeting
B: Regional Significance Documentation
