Roseville Public Works, Environment and
Transportation Commission
Agenda Item
Date: February 22, 2022
Item Description: Climate Concerns Resolution Discussion
Background:
Item No: 7
Just prior to the November PWET Commission meeting, the Chair and Co -Chair were presented
with a proposed resolution declaring a Climate Emergency in Roseville (proposed resolution
attached). The Commission discussed this and determined they did not have enough time to
discuss this at the November meeting. Their next scheduled meeting was January 25, 2022.
On Monday, January 24, the City Council discussed this resolution as a possible future agenda
item for the Council. The City Council voted not to discuss this particular resolution and
questioned the need to adopt a resolution of this nature given all of the sustainability items the
City was already undertaking and planning.
The PWET Commission has decided, as a group, to continue a conversation on this topic of
recommending adoption of a resolution identifying climate concerns for the City of Roseville.
Recommended Action:
Review and discuss recent history and discussions around adopting a climate emergency/climate
concerns resolution.
Attachments:
A: Proposed Climate Emergency Resolution as Introduced November 2021
B: City Meeting January 24, 2022 Meeting Minutes - Excerpt
C: PWET Commission Meeting Minutes January 25, 2022 — Excerpt
