<br />VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE <br />Regular meeting Tuesday, February 16 at 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date with the following members <br />present: Carlson, Olson, Salverda and Hammersten. Milner Carley, <br />Village Engineer and B.J. Loftsgaarden, Village Attorney were also <br />present. <br /> <br />Olson moved, Carlson seconded that the minutes of the last meeting's <br />be accepted as they appeared on the copies furnished the members of <br />the Council. Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Olson moved" Carls on seconded to amend the minutem. of the February <br />9th meeting pertaining to the ~rages of the liquor store employee I s. <br />It was suggested that the raise in wages go into effect February~. <br />Roll Call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Mr. Francis, a garbage and rubbish collector, asked the Council to consider <br />giving him a temporary permit. He reported that his customers have paid <br />him till the first of May and he wanted to carry out his part of the bargain. <br />His territory covers Snelling to Victoria toward Larpenteur. <br />The Council agreed that if the man assigned that territory would be agreeable, <br />a permit would be granted since this was an exception to the case. <br /> <br />Olson moved, Carlson seconded that a temporary penait for 30 days be issued. <br />AJ~s-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Ed. Salverda, Village Electrical Inspector" reported that there is a man <br />doing work in the Village who is not licensed. His electrical work does <br />not come up to the Village standar~ so therefore, he is breaking the <br />wiring code. <br /> <br />B.J. Loftsgaarden, attorney, said that the Councilor an;y individual <br />are 'VT ithin their rights to file charges against this man. <br /> <br />Olson moved, Hammersten seconded that the Council give Salverda full <br />cooperation in this matter. Roll Call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Dan Gebhardt, representing electrical contractors in St. Paul recommended <br />that Roseville adopt a more stringent code in electrical installations. <br />He recommended that we use all steel installations, which would be far <br />cheaper and far superior to what we do have. <br /> <br />}~. Olson suggested that a meeting could be called at somA other time <br />so that we could go further into the subject, on whether we wanted to <br />adopt such a code. <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from W.E. Haveland pertaining to "Ppointing <br />local assessor, asking for someone with experience. <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, Olson seconde~ that Ted Schultz be re-appointed <br />assessor.
