He thought the Council <br />316 was committed to tentatively discuss this item in the third quarter of this year or <br />317 later. <br />318 <br />319 9. Climate Change Response Recommendation (Cont.) <br />320 Public Works Director Marc Culver indicated he came up with some wording for a <br />321 recommendation to the City Council on climate change response. "For <br />322 consideration the PWETC recognizes that there is ongoing global climate <br />323 emergency to address and promote action in response to this climate emergency the <br />324 PWETC recommends the following action items on the part of the City of <br />325 Roseville: budget for a full time City of Roseville Sustainability position as soon <br />326 as possible, create and implement a climate action plan with interim <br />327 implementation goals and task City Staff, PWETC and or City of Roseville <br />328 residents with developing, monitoring and routinely reporting on the progress of <br />329 the climate action plan. Identify key metrics for energy reduction and sustainability <br />330 goals and routinely report on progress. Pursue Federal, State and other funding in <br />331 support of targeted climate response actions. Explore private sector partnerships to <br />332 expand EV charging stations within the City of Roseville. Work with other City <br />333 Commissions and departments to develop and implement City Policies and or <br />334 Zoning Ordinances that incentivize energy conservation and EV ready <br />335 construction. Increase and enhance the tree canopy to require diverse native tree <br />336 that will tolerate anticipated climate stresses for public areas and provide education <br />337 and guidance to residents and businesses to guide their selection of climate tolerant <br />338 trees and other plantings. Decrease impermeable surfaces and heat island effects by <br />339 incentivizing proven alternatives and provide education and guidance to residents <br />340 and businesses to guide their choices." He indicated the only thing he did not have <br />341 in this paragraph is a recommendation to the City Council about adopting a <br />342 resolution because he was not exactly sure how to word it. <br />343 <br />344 Vice -Chair Ficek asked if the Commission wanted a resolution. <br />345 <br />346 Chair Wozniak asked what the Commissioners thought about including the draft <br />347 resolution from the November/January meeting. <br />348 <br />349 The Commissioners supported forwarding the draft resolution to the City Council. <br />350 <br />Page 8 of 9 <br />
