6) STAFF REPORT <br />a) POCAHONTAS PARK RENAMING <br />Staff is planning to get the word out that the city is seeking a new name for Pocahontas Park and <br />is looking for input from everyone in a variety of ways. Based upon guidance at the joint meeting <br />with the City Council, the process and plan to get started includes: <br />• Using the city naming policy as a guide <br />• Being intentional about engaging Native American individuals and groups, residents <br /> who live near the park and all community members <br />• Ensuring Native American perspectives are considered through a variety of efforts <br />• Collecting name suggestions <br />• Considering a stipend for additional help, analysis and input, if necessary. <br /> <br />The process is anticipated to conclude in late 2022 or early 2023 with the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission making a recommendation to the City Council. <br />b) DISCOVER YOUR PARK SIGNUP SHEET <br />The Discover Your Park signup sheet is now available on-line. You can find the dates and times <br />for this year’s DYP events and signup here: <br /> <br />https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080E4DAAAB2DA7F58-2022 <br />c)NEW OR RELEVANT COMMUNICATIONS AND UPDATE ITEMS <br />o Granite City is now open at the Cedarholm Community Building and Golf Course. <br />o Summer staff are still needed at Roseville Parks and Recreation. <br />o Flower Power - Planting Day on Saturday, May 21 (9:00a.m. – 12:00p.m) at Central <br />Park – Lexington. <br />o The City Wide Garage Sale will be June 2, 2022 – June 4 2022. <br />o Rosefest 2022 will be June 22, 2022 – July 4, 2022. <br />o Kids’ garage sale on Sunday June 26, 2022 (5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m.) at Central Park – <br />Lexington. <br />o Live @ The Rog! Performances Series will begin June 12 at the Central Park <br />Amphitheatre. Performances will be held every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday <br />through August 14, 2022. <br />o Seasonal and part-time hiring event for Roseville Parks and Recreation on Thursday, <br />May 5, 2022 (4:00p.m. – 6:00p.m.) at the Autumn Grove Park Building. <br />7) OTHER <br />Commissioner Arneson thanked the staff who picked up the fish around Bennett Lake. <br />Commissioner Lenhart asked if there is anything further that the Commission can do to address litter <br />within the parks. Staff relayed that there are many local volunteer groups along with the Adopt-a- <br />Park program who help to address the litter in the parks. <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
