REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:November 7, 2022 <br />Item No.:10.d <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Certify Unpaid Utility and Other Charges to the Property Tax Rolls <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 As authorized by City Code, Sections 506, 801, 802, and 906,the City annually certifies to the County <br />3 Auditor any unpaid false alarm, water, sewer, and other charges that are in excess of 90 days past due, for <br />4 collection on the following year’sproperty taxes. Affected property owners are provided a hearing to <br />5 dispute any charges against their property. <br />6 <br />7 Beginning in 2010, the City Council began approvingcertifications for delinquent utilities on a quarterly <br />8 basis. This ensuresthat any unpaid utilities are brought to the attention of new property owners in a more <br />9 timely fashion. It will also allow the City to record a lien against the property in the event that a property <br />10 goes into foreclosure and/or is being prepared for sale for other reasons. <br />11 <br />12 Attached is the current list of delinquent charges.
