Roll Call <br /> Mayor Roe called the meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m. Voting and Seating <br /> Order: Willmus, Strahan, Etten, Groff and Roe. City Manager Patrick Trudgeon and City <br /> Attorney Mark Gaughan were also present. <br /> 2. Pledge of Allegiance <br /> 3. Approve Agenda <br /> Willmus moved, Groff seconded, approval of the agenda as presented. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Willmus, Strahan, Etten, Groff and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> 4. Public Comment <br /> Mayor Roe called for public comment by members of the audience on any non-agenda <br /> items. <br /> Ms. Sherry Sanders, South McCarrons Boulevard and Mr.Ron Peterson,Shoreview. <br /> Mr. Peterson indicated that he and Ms. Sanders are co-founders of the Rice Street Gardens <br /> in Maplewood. He noted there are almost fifty families from Roseville that garden there. <br /> Ms. Sanders gave a brief history of Rice Street Gardens. She thanked the City of Roseville <br /> for its long-term commitment and the gardens have received a considerable amount of <br /> compost from the Public Works Department. She thanked the City of Roseville for its <br /> support for the many families,mostly immigrants in this venture. She explained the entire <br /> site, almost thirteen acres is owned by the St. Paul Regional Water Services, and they have <br /> allowed the public to use their acreage free for the community garden. St. Paul planned to <br /> use the land for expansion one day but changed their minds and are going to sell the entire <br /> site. She indicated that is where their capital campaign comes in. She explained the group <br /> is working with several interested parties such as Habitat for Humanity,the City of Maple- <br /> wood, Rice/Larpenteur Alliance, and others. She indicated the group needed approxi- <br /> mately 1.3 million dollars and they have already been pledged three hundred thousand. <br /> The group is going to be starting at the beginning of the year with campaigns to help raise <br /> that funding. She explained how the City can help is to publicize the campaign and to let <br /> other know who might want to support this effort.
