Mr. Englund indicated the parks still mowed in active areas. <br />Chair Ficek wondered if there were any City areas that could lead by example. <br />Mr. Freihammer explained that could be something looked at independently from <br />this. <br />Member Hodder explained he liked the idea of less mow because it is a balance <br />through the summer. <br />Member Luongo indicated she was in favor of this. <br />Member Cicha thought the Commission should recommend to the City Council to <br />extend the moratoriums on Code Enforcement in April and May for 2023. He also <br />liked the idea of mowing the edge of the lawn and leave the inside growing all year. <br />He was in favor of making a recommendation to include that kind of relaxation of <br />the Code. <br />Member Cicha indicated he would also be in favor of the City providing a source <br />where residents could purchase seed for pollinator areas to plant. <br />Chair Ficek asked if last year there were yard signs indicating No Mow May. <br />Mr. Johnson explained signs were not used, but this year yard signs could be used <br />and the City does have some money set aside for yard signs or window clings to <br />promote No Mow/Less Mow May. <br />Motion <br />Member Collins moved, Member Hodder seconded, to recommend the City <br />Council take a look at the City Ordinance regarding No Mow/Less Mow May <br />and to relax the Code violation period before and after the event. <br />Ayes: 5 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />Motion <br />Member Cicha moved, Member Collins seconded, to recommend the City <br />Council to relax the Code enforcement for April, May, and mid -June 2023 <br />along with staff time to properly promote and educated along with yard signs <br />for residents to promote what is being done and have the City look at non - <br />active areas to lead by example. <br />Ayes: 5 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />
