Attachment <br />Proposed Shoreland Ordinance Update <br />4901 ¤ 1,000 feet from the ordinary high water level of a Department of Natural Resources <br />4902 designated lake, pond, or flowage; and <br />4903 ¤ 300 feet from a city designated water body; and <br />4904 ¤ 300 feet from a river or stream, or the landward extent of a floodplain designated by <br />4905 ordinance on a river or stream, whichever is greater (see Figure 1012-6). <br />4906 Figure 1012-6: Definition of Shoreland <br />4907 SHORE RECREATION FACILITIES: Swimming areas, docks, watercraft mooring areas and <br />4908 launching ramps and other water recreation facilities. <br />4909 SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC SITE: Any archaeological site, standing structure, or other property <br />4910 that meets the criteria for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places or is listed in the <br />4911 State Register of Historic Sites, or is determined to be an unplatted cemetery that falls under the <br />4912 provisions of Minnesota Statutes, Section 307.08. A historic site meets these criteria if it is <br />4913 presently listed on either register or if it is determined to meet the qualifications for listing after <br />4914 review by the Minnesota state archaeologist or the director of the Minnesota Historical Society. <br />4915 All unplatted cemeteries are automatically considered to be significant historic sites. <br />4916 STEEP SLOPE: Lands having average slopes over 12 percent, as measured over horizontal <br />4917 distances of 50 feet or more, which are not bluffs. <br />4918 SUBDIVISION: Land that is divided for the purpose of sale, rent, or lease, including planned unit <br />4919 developments. <br />4920 SUITABILITY ANALYSIS: An evaluation of land to determine if it is appropriate for the <br />4921 proposed use. The analysis considers factors relevant to the proposed use and may include the <br />4922 following features: susceptibility to flooding; existence of wetlands; soils, erosion potential; slope <br />4923 steepness; water supply, sewage treatment capabilities; water depth, depth to groundwater and <br />4924 bedrock, vegetation, near-shore aquatic conditions unsuitable for water-based recreation; fish and <br />12 <br /> <br />
