Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,January 30, 2023 <br /> Page 10 <br /> Councilmember Strahan asked if there will be street parking restrictions in this area <br /> during the time of the project. <br /> Mr. Samuel indicated there will be traffic control with some lanes closed with some <br /> restriction to street parking. He indicated Xcel will be working with the Public <br /> Works Department on this project. <br /> Mayor Roe assumed this is a rolling project from one end to the other. <br /> Mr. Samuel explained replacing these types of structures is kind of new concept <br /> and is different than replacing wood structures. He reviewed the process with the <br /> City Council, confirming that the replacements and associated traffic restrictions <br /> move from one end of the corridor to the other. <br /> Mayor Roe indicated the City appreciated the information and looked forward to <br /> the project being completed in a timely manner. <br /> Recess <br /> Mayor Roe recessed the meeting at approximately 7:18 p.m., and reconvened at approximately <br /> 7:24 p.m. <br /> c. Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting with the City Council Regarding <br /> the Name of Pocahontas Park and General Updates <br /> Vice-Chair Greg Hoag briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Request for <br /> Council Action and related attachments dated January 30, 2023. <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission Members present were: Vice-Chair Hoag,Com- <br /> missioners Lenhart, Matts-Benson, Ybarra, Brown, and Arneson. <br /> Vice-Chair Hoag presented the 2022 Commission highlights with the City Council. <br /> Commissioners Lenhart and Matts-Benson updated the City Council on the Poca- <br /> hontas Park name conversation. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked the Commission for all the work done on everything presented <br /> tonight. <br /> Councilmember Groff thanked the Commission for an excellent process, and he has <br /> heard from residents over and over that this one worked for them and they felt that <br /> they were heard. He thought the end name for the park was excellent and he sup- <br /> ported that for all of the reasons given by the Commission. <br /> Councilmember Etten concurred and thanked the Commission for all the work and <br /> staff for the last couple of years work. He would be in absolute support of signage <br /> with an educational piece around the history of Dakota land and peoples as a part <br />
