Neel Gas Project <br />o All major work is completed. Some minor restoration remains, but will have <br />no impacts to the public. <br />Neel Pole Project <br />o Neel Energy will replace or paint large transmission poles in early March <br />between Lake Bennett and Rice Street. Most poles run along the north side of <br />South Owasso Boulevard. <br />Council Update: <br />Below is a highlight of items recently presented to and/or acted on by the City <br />Council. More information can be found in the agenda packets and minutes for the <br />referenced Council meetings: <br />o January 30: <br />• Approved changing Pocahontas Park to Keya Park, which means <br />turtle in the Dakota language. <br />• Discussed potential Phase II Zoning Code amendments regarding <br />shoreland and sustainability regulations. <br />o February 13: <br />• Approved ordinance to stop issuance of new Short -Term Rental <br />licenses. <br />• Adopted a Resolution Approving MnDOT Cooperative <br />Construction Agreement No. 1051804 — TH 36 & Fairview <br />Avenue Ramps Improvement. <br />Sustainability Update <br />• City Council approved the Sustainability Specialist position for 2023, and staff <br />interviewed 5 candidates in mid -February. Ms. Noelle Bakken was selected for the <br />role and she will officially be the Sustainability Specialist in mid -May after she <br />finishes her grad school program. <br />• Roseville was announced as one of the 2022 winners for the Intercity Home Energy <br />Squad challenge, with the highest percentage of Home Energy Squad visits per capita <br />out of 26 competing cities. The city will be celebrated at an award ceremony in <br />March. <br />• Community outreach: <br />o Staff spoke at New Life Presbyterian Church on February 4 at the request of <br />their Earth Care Committee about the Roseville Sustainable Steward program, <br />Roseville's sustainability efforts, and the Environmental Service Center <br />planned to be built in Roseville by 2025. <br />o Staff met with residents at Greenhouse Village on February 3 to answer <br />questions about community solar subscriptions as they relate to co-op <br />condominium communities. <br />o Staff met three residents at a local coffee shop in January to talk about their <br />sustainability priorities and how volunteers could help the City achieve its <br />goals. <br />• Staff began work with the Gold Leaf pilot program over the last month, meeting with <br />the other participating communities to brainstorm potential action items. <br />0 Page 2 <br />
