Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,April 10, 2023
Page 3
Ms. Bjorklund thought that was great clarification and to be reminded of that as her
associates dig deeper.
Mayor Roe pointed out that it is not unusual to get this type of response in this
process because seventeen years ago when the Imagine Roseville 2020 was being
worked on, it was very similar in that there was a cluster of responses related to
schools and education. Then, the City had to figure out how to deal with that.
The other thing he noted was the Roseville District has just completed a fairly sub-
stantial visioning process of their own so a lot of what this is gathering is parallel
or concurs with what the School District was already hearing.
Councilmember Etten agreed and for him it is not creating false impressions with
folks as they go back to them in Phase Two. He asked how many data points or
responses does Zan Associates have from Hello Lamppost this fall and winter.
Ms. Bjorklund indicated she did not have the specific number or information but
could get that for the Council.
Ms. Olson reviewed the schedule process with the Council.
Councilmember Schroeder appreciated the update. She noted in the presentation it
was indicated there is a gap in the 18 to 24 year olds and she wondered what the
breakdown was for the rest of the response demographics. She asked if it was
mainly older people or scattered throughout the other age groups.
Ms. Bjorklund explained the 24 year olds to senior group, or above 60 years old
group was pretty consistently spread out. The response rate was just a little bit
lower in the 18 to 24 age group which lets her group know there needs to be more
work done in that area.
Councilmember Groff stated the presentation and update has been helpful. He
thought it was good work using existing organizations to go out to reach people in
person. He thought aspirations was one of the reasons why the Council wanted to
pursue this in order to find out if the City is still on track. He indicated it was
interesting to hear that the aspirations have stayed similar from seventeen years ago
but it would be interesting to find out the final outcome of this.
Councilmember Etten appreciated all the other's thoughts and Ms. Bjorklund's
point that schools are a great place to find the broader community. He thought as
this goes back into the schools, it will be important that the topic areas are not fo-
cused on the curriculum or providing"x" services that are happening in the
schools programs. As the data comes back, thinking about seniors, certainly at
Aijpetu Teca Education Center, there are senior services that are happening there,
going to some of the facilities that are already there. These facilities often have
