Vice-Chair Matts-Benson suggested adding “encourage Commissioner participation at the Keya <br />Park DYP celebration” to the “Keya Park Development Project” goal. <br />Commissioner Arneson suggested adding a goal regarding the new park space at County Rd. B <br />and Eustis. His suggested short and long term goals included: supporting the park naming <br />process and choosing of park amenities along with encouraging Commission members to attend <br />the park opening celebration. Commissioner Arneson agreed to put his name on this goal. <br /> <br />Commissioner Raygor noted that she would like to be added to item 2B. <br /> <br />Staff confirmed they will update the goals based on the Commissions discussion and will bring <br />the goals back at the May 2023 commission meeting. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the Envision Roseville project and how best to ensure that Parks and <br />Recreation information is included in the project. <br /> <br />Staff and the Commission discussed the Campus Master Plan. Staff relayed that the earliest this <br />project would begin would be in 2025. The Commission discussed a potential goal of ensuring <br />that Parks and Recreation is factored into the Campus Master Plan and that there is <br />thoughtfulness regarding the loss of Veterans Park. <br />5) STAFF REPORT <br />a) DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES <br /> Tapping Time at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center was on March 25 and March 26. More <br />than 1,500 people attended over the two day event. <br /> Arts at the OVAL was held at the Roseville Skating Center on March 25 and had 560 <br />attendees and over 30 vendors. <br /> The deer removal season wrapped up in March. The United States Department of Agriculture <br />(USDA) removed 24 deer from Roseville. <br /> Staff is working on the contract with Burro Loco to become the food service vendor at the <br />Cedarholm Community Building. <br /> The Guidant John Rose MN OVAL has $800,000 requested in the current state bonding bill. <br />This money would be used to replace the roof, HVAC and remodeling of arena bathrooms. <br /> Due to the large snowfall this past weekend, 67 trees were knocked down across streets and <br />sidewalks. Staff noted that they appreciate everyone’s patience with the cities snow removal. <br /> Two out of three meetings have been completed for the Keya Park playground rebuild. Staff <br />shared potential concept designs for the new playground. Education and land <br />acknowledgements will also be included as part of the park renaming process. <br /> LHB has signed on to assist staff with planning for the new park located at County Rd. C and <br />Eustis. LHB previously assisted the city with the Midland Garden and Unity Park planning. <br />Community engagement will begin as early as May, 2023. <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
