Roll Call Mayor Roe called the meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m. Voting and Seating Order: Etten, Groff, Strahan, and Roe. City Manager Patrick Trudgeon and City Attorney Rachel Tierney were also present. Councilmember Schroeder was absent. 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Approve Agenda Groff moved, Etten seconded, approval of the agenda as presented. Roll Call Ayes: Etten, Groff, Strahan, and Roe. Nays: None. 4. Public Comment Mayor Roe called for public comment by members of the audience on any non-agenda items. Roger Hess,Wagener Place Mr. Roger Hess, Wagener Place, indicated after looking over the City's inclusion and respect statement and looking at other local ones, it seems like the City is missing three important categories of discrimination. He stated the three are gender identity, home or first language, and physical appearance. He hoped that sometime the Council might have some discussion about adding those to the statement. He explained when he went to the Juneteenth Celebration last year, he found it odd that he could not find there any mention of all the hundreds of thousands of people who fought and died to end slavery and he thought it would be nice to have something, even just mentioning it somewhere. He stated Juneteenth would not have happened if it were not for these people and most were volunteers and in Minnesota,half of the eligible male population went there to fight, even the members of the black community went to fight, one hundred black men went to fight and at the time there were only 259 black people living in Minnesota. 5. Recognitions,Donations, and Communications a. LGBTQIA+Pride Month Proclamation Mayor Roe read the LGBTQIA+Pride Month Proclamation. Groff moved, Etten seconded, proclaiming June 2023 LGBTQIA+Pride Month.
