She also noted <br /> that the Police Department added an AmeriCorps intern for the summer to provide <br /> additional housing support which is grant funded. She reviewed the programs and <br /> initiatives the Police Department has undertaken such as hosting a gun turn-in event <br /> and free gun locks as well as the New Hire Family Support Program and art project <br /> with Roseville Area Middle School students to promote equity and inclusiveness. <br /> The Police Department also has participated annually in the Human Trafficking <br /> Investigators Task Force and continued community outreach including Shop with <br /> a Cop, holiday toy drive and personal supplies for Roseville Area High School, <br /> entered into metro-wide fencing consortium to help deescalate potential violence <br /> in the event of an officer involved critical incident, worked on an auto theft <br /> prevention grant and Narcan and AED grant funding to support communities most <br /> affected by opioid crisis. The Police Department applied and received opioid <br /> settlement funds. She reviewed the Police Department policy changes and training <br /> of officers, new and old. <br /> Parks and Recreation Director Johnson reviewed the Parks and Recreation <br /> programs and activities including renaming Pocahontas Park to Keya Park,entering <br /> into an agreement with REACH for Resources and hosted events and programs that <br /> highlight diverse cultures. <br /> Public Works Director Freihammer reviewed the Public Works Department <br /> programs including snowplow parking pilot program, ADA curb ramp upgrades, <br /> recycling, and sustainability. <br /> Community Development Director Gundlach reviewed the Community <br /> Development Department items that were worked on during the year including <br /> Renter support with Tenant Notification Ordinance, Mapping Prejudice and Just <br /> Deeds. She indicated her department has broadened a lot of the housing programs <br /> being offered and looking at that with the equity lens in the forefront. She reviewed <br /> the EDA programming including First Generation Down Payment Assistance <br /> program, Small Business Assistance programs, targeting BIPOC and Choose <br /> Roseville program, which concluded at the end of 2022. She highlighted the Rice <br /> &Larpenteur Alliance. She also discussed housing including Zoning Code update, <br /> securing more missing middle housing types and Public Finance Assistance in <br /> support of affordable housing. <br /> Fire Chief Brosnahan updated the City Council on the Fire Department programs <br /> and services including healthcare access, transitioning to Advanced Life Support <br /> (ALS) first response, assisting RPD Community Action Team with medical <br /> assessment and treatment needs of homeless and unsheltered persons, as well as the <br /> Multi-Family Licensing program and recruitment efforts by using the cadet <br /> program and rejuvenation of the Fire Explorer post. The Fire Department has also <br /> done community outreach by going to block parties, Fridays with Firefighters, an <br /> annual open house along with community CPR training. <br />
