Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, October 23,2023 <br /> Page 14 <br /> Council Discussion <br /> Councilmember Etten thought the City was past due with this and needed to be <br /> thinking about the benefits side of this as well. <br /> Councilmember Groff concurred and noted the City needs to also be competitive <br /> in the marketplace. <br /> Mayor Roe indicated the City needs to make sure that going forward, they review <br /> these types of data more frequently and try to keep up with the marketplace better. <br /> He indicated he is supportive of this. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Etten, Schroeder, Groff, Strahan, and Roe. <br /> Nays: None <br /> 8. Council Direction Councilmember Initiated Agenda Items <br /> 9. Approve Minutes <br /> Comments and corrections to draft minutes had been submitted by the City Council prior <br /> to tonight's meeting and those revisions were incorporated into the draft presented in the <br /> Council packet. <br /> a. Approve October 9, 2023 City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> Groff moved, Etten seconded, approval of the October 9, 2023 City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes as presented. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Etten, Schroeder, Groff, Strahan, and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> Councilmember Etten indicated under the public comment there were inappropriate <br /> comments from people not in the area commenting on things that did not have to <br /> do with the City's work. He thought it was very unfortunate but it was important <br /> to include the text there and to acknowledge that happened and kind of the process <br /> of how the City responded to that. He appreciated that it was added to the minutes. <br /> Mayor Roe indicated he was a little concerned with the public video of the October <br /> 9th meeting because he was not sure the video even shows him asking for public <br /> comment, but the video goes to everything after it happened. He was concerned <br /> that the video was excessively cut and there should be some public record of what <br /> happened. He was not sure,being a public entity, if they could edit it all out. <br /> Councilmember Strahan thought it would be important to have it on record <br /> internally, but she was not concerned about it being shared externally.
