<br />VILLA.GE OF ROSEVILLE <br />Regular meeting of the Village Council, Tuesday January 17, 1956 2 p.m. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date with the following members <br />present: Salverda, Carlson, KiUs, McGee and Hammersten. Robert Gearin, <br />attorney; and Milner Carley, Engineer, were also present. <br /> <br />Carlson moved, Salverda seconded the minutes of the January lOth meeting <br />be approved as corrected. Roll Call Ayes (5)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />Mrs. Hedberg from the Iexington School P.T.A. reported to the Council the <br />) results of the 16 hour traffic count that was made by the Ydnn. Hwgy. De~t <br />at the intersection of Lexinzton & Co. Rd. B on Dec 6, 1955. They re- <br />ported that there was not enough vehicle traffic at certain hours to warrant <br />a traffic signal, but there was enough pedestrian traffic t to warrant a <br />achool stop signal. It was pointed out that the Hwgy. Dept. does not <br />contribute to the cost of such a signal but suggested the Village Council <br />adopt a resolution requesting such a lignal and submit it to the Hwgy. <br />Dept. and they in turn would mail an application for a pennit. Mrs. Hedberg <br />pointed out the cost of the signal would be $950.00 and the installation <br />$200 to $300. She also stated she would like to see a 30 m.p.h. speed <br />limit set along I.exington Ave. north of Larpenteur. <br /> <br />McGee moved, seconded by Carlson to take up the request for a traffic <br />sign at Lexington & Co. Rd. B at the first meeting in February. Roll <br />Call Ayes (5)_Nayss (0). <br /> <br />The clerk read a letter from Clem Johnson in regard to the nuisance of <br />a hog farm south of his new addition at Cleveland & Co. Rd. D. <br />Harmnersten moved, Salvel'da seconded the letter be placed on file and <br />letters be sent to the owners explaining the Village's position in the <br />matter. Roll Call Ayes (5)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />The clerk read a letter froD. the J. C. Penny Co., who are to be located <br />at Larpenteur & Fernwood, requesting a map of Roseville and any other in- <br />formation that would be helpful to them. <br />McGee moved, Carlson seconded the letter be placed on file and The Clerk <br />forward his map or a map offered by the Roseville Business Mens Assln. <br />to the J. C. Penny Co.; also any other information they need. Roll Call <br />Ayes (5)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />Mr. lVIcGee stated the Research Committe was meeting Thurs. evèning. <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />:;../ A letter was received from the Nortrern Pacific Railroad Co. RE: the <br />Village responsibility in placing a culvert at Long Lake Rd. & the <br />NPRR tracks as indicated in an easement. <br />'\ McGee moved, Hammersten seconded the matter be referred to the Engineer <br />and Attorney for checking and their recommendation to be submitted to <br />the Council at the next meeting. Roll Call Ayes (5)...Nayes (0) <br /> <br />\ <br />'- <br /> <br />The Planning Commission recommended the Village accept the contract on <br />Village Planning submitted by Carl Gardner & Associates. <br />Hammersten moved, McGee seconded the Council authorize the l'1a.yor and Clerk <br />to sign the contract.
