<br />-2- <br /> <br />Erwin Peterson, attorney for Local 49 (International Union of Operating <br />Engineers) asked if the Council had discussed the letter that was sent <br />to the Village in which they submitted several proposals pertaining to <br />the maintenance crew. As this was the first meeting since the letter <br />was received and some members of the council were not familiar wi th its <br />content., the clerk read the letter. It was decided that a date would <br />be set later when the union, council, engineer and maintenance crew <br />woild get together to discuss these proposals. <br /> <br />Mr. Farrell from Gudim Realty, who is working with a contractor building <br />in the McCarrons Hills Addition, asked if he could be told when the <br />sewer would be coming into this district. He was told the village does <br />not have any definite dates so could not maie any commitments at this time. <br /> <br />The clerk read an application from the Telephone Co. to place a buried <br />telephone cable at Oakerest between New Brighton Rd. (Fairview) and <br />"lling Ave. <br />McGee moved, Hammersten seconded the matter be referred to the Engineer <br />for study and a report to be back at the next meeti.nQ.· Roll Ayes (5À- <br />Nayes (0). 0 <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from the League of Minnesota Municipalities <br />explaining the short courses that are being offered at the University <br />of Minnesota through its Center for Continuation Study. <br />Mr. McGee then gave a report on the luncheon he attended at the Continu- <br />ation eenter at the University. He stated that to send a person(police <br />officer) from the village for training in regard to Juvenile Delinquency <br />Problems would cost $500 to 1600 and that perhaps at this time there <br />were other places that money could be used. <br /> <br />Engineer Carley submitted a letter explaining the possibility of placing <br />a storm sewer in the same trench used in the construction af a sanitary <br />sewer system in the village. He had discussed this matter with Mr. <br />Banister and Mr. Short of the Banister Engineering Co. <br />A meeting will be held at a later date with the Village engineer, Council, <br />and Banister Eng. Co. so that Bome definite plans can be made. <br /> <br />Local 49 <br /> <br />buried telepJ <br />cable <br /> <br />Center for <br />Continuatic <br />Study <br /> <br />stoa sewe¡ <br /> <br />A.t the last regular meeting a letter was referred to the Engineer and <br />Attorney from the Northern Pacific Railway Co. which called the attentioN <br />of the council to the fact that an easement granted a few years ago for Long Lake J <br />a crossing at the Northern Pacifiets intersection with Long Lake Road <br />called for the placing of a certain culvert by the village and this <br />culvert has not been placed. <br />In 1952 the village did not have the street regulations which we have at <br />the present time and the village furnished and placed all culverts. <br />Mr. Carley recommended that under the circumstances he felt the village <br />is responsible for the placing of this culvert and recommended authoriza- <br />tion to deal with the Railroad Co. and to install this culvert and the <br />necessary outlet ditch. <br />McGee moved, Carlson seconded the Engineer be given authorization to con- <br />tact the Northern Pacific Railway Co. and have the culvert installed at the <br />expense of the Village.
