1
,
4 O
December 5, 1983
--2-
The screening hy planting does n.ot appear to le adequate in several areas. The
plan calls f.or eleven fir tres along he nor_thern boundary. There are six healthy
firs a:d five in less than healthy condition providing limited screening. The plan
also calls for even ash trees at the northeast corner of the sitP. There are two
ash rees, neither of which appear to be healthy and neither of which Provide
significant screening. The plan also proposea ivy to be placd on all fencing. The
only area where ivy was evident was in the no rtheast corner of 'the site.
There are several instances where the location of structures and mate rials on the
site do not comply with the plan. These p roblem areas also appeared in a letter from
Mr. Irv Margolis to Howard Dahlgren, date Auqust 27, 1977, which I have attached.
The problem areas includ e.=llayee parkinc along the Larpenteur Avenue fence, the
location of hoop houses, the location of topsai r.d andscape materials, and the
si.ze of the equipment storage area.
The employee parking still remains along the Larpenteur Avenue fence The hoap
houses are located on the west central portion of the site. The p].an shows them.
in the northwest corner of the site. There is a large stockpile of topsoil in the
northwest corner of the site, and woodchips are being stored in the southeast. portion
of the site. 'I7ie plan calls for topsoil and lanscaping mate rial to be located in the
southwest portion of the site.
ia final areas of concern are the stockade fence providing screening of the equipment
storage area and a collection of machinery p arts in the southwest corn er of the site.
The stockade fence has been held up 2 feet from the ground, giving the fence a
srange appearance, and partially limitin g its screening ility.
A semi-trailer and miscellaneous ma.chinery p arts are being stored in the southwest
corner of the site. This is contrary to the plan, and p resents an unattractive
appearance at th entrance to the site.
I have attached plan dated August 23, 1977 showing p roposed locations of structures
and materials. The map also shows the current location of the hoop houses and field
office.
? have also attached an October 2, 1977 revision to the August 23, 1977 plan showing
the stockade fence. •
Attachments
