Test
cylinders for compression tests for specified strengths conforming to ASTM
C31. Cylinders shall be made when as directed by the Architect and there
shall be at least 3 cylinders for each 150 cu.yds. of concrete For each
specified strength, for each specified type, and for each day"s pouring.
One (1) cylinder will be tested for compression at the age of 7 days and 2
at 28 days. Tests will be made in accordance with method of "Test for
Compressive Strength of Molded Concrete Cylinders" ASTM C39.
F. Strengths of working stress type concrete shall be considered satisfactory
if average of any five consecutive strength tests of laboratory cured
specimens representing each specified strength of concrete is equal to or
greater than specified strength and if not more than 20 percent of
strength tests have accepted values less than specified strength.
G. If concrete tests fail to meet strengths required, additional tests will
be directed. If additional tests fail to confirm required strengths, the
Contractor shall pay for all tests and cost of all work to replace
defective concrete. The Owner will pay the costs of additional tests if
concrete proves satisfactory.
7. MIXINC CONCRETE
A. Production of Concrete: Except as otherwise indicated, batch, mix and
transport ready -mixed concrete in accordance with ASTM C-94. Plant
equipment and facilities shall conform to "Check list for Certification of
Ready Mixed Concrete Production Facilities" of the National Ready Mixed
Concrete Association.
5264 SECTION 03300 - 4
