P <br />DIVISION 3 <br />CONCRETE <br />03300 - CAST -IN -PLACE CONCRETE <br />H. Expansion Joint Material: ASTM D-1751 formed non -extruded and resilient <br />type filler of sizes as called for <br />on drawings, as manufactured by <br />Celotex, Meadows, or Grace. <br />1. Joint sealer: Marneco Vulkem 45. <br />2. <br />At exterior locations and where noted for exterior use, provide 15 lb. <br />asphalt felt paper as material. No Joint <br />I. <br />,point sealer required. <br />Cement for <br />grout column base plates and heavy loads shall non -shrink, <br />non-metallic grout, similar to Sonogrout <br />or Five Star Grout. <br />J. <br />Reinforcing: See Section 03200. <br />K. <br />Sand cushion for concrete base shall consist of clean, dry, granular <br />particles, passing a three -eights inch (3/8"1 <br />mesh sieve, free of frozen <br />chunks and organic material. <br />5. <br />CONCRETE STRENGTHt MIX PROPORTIONS AND DESIGN <br />A. <br />Proportions. The concrete mix shall be designed in accordance with ACI <br />standard <br />recommended practice for design of concrete mixes (ACI 211) to <br />produce the strength of concrete with slumps and maximum sizes <br />of coarse <br />aggregate in accordance with the requirements outlined below. The <br />concrete shall be so designed that the concrete materials will not <br />segregate and excessive bleeding will not occur. <br />B. <br />Provide the following strengths of concrete at 28 days unless otherwise <br />• <br />shown on structural drawings. <br />1. For footing: <br />3000 psi <br />2. Bond beams, vertically filled block cores: 3000 psi <br />3. Floor slabs on grade: 3000 psi interior slabs <br />4. All other concrete: 4000 psi exterior concrete to contain 5 to 7% <br />entrained air. <br />5. The following is required for all concrete regardless of strength: <br />a. slump 3" max. and 1" min. - masonry core fill 5" to v" <br />b. maximum water/cement ratio of 0,48 for concrete except masonry <br />core fill <br />C. <br />Maximum size of coarse aggregate: Nominal maximum size of aggregate ,shall <br />not be more than 1/5 of narrowest dimension between sides of forms, 1/3 of <br />depth of slabs, nor 3/4 of minimum clear spacing between reinforcing <br />bars. Unless otherwise approved, maximum coarse aggregate sizes: <br />5264 <br />SECTION 03300 - 3 <br />1 <br />
