DIVISION 3 <br />CONCRETE , <br />03430 - STRUCTURAL PRECAST, <br />PRESTRESSED CONCRETE <br />explosive driven or drilled inserts to connect items to units without <br />prior approval of Engineer. <br />F. Mark each unit as indicated on erection plans. <br />9. COLUMNS AND BEAMS <br />A. Columns: <br />1. <br />Units shall be cased in approved steel forms. All exposed surfaces of <br />units shall have a smooth, dense, true surface, free <br />of honeycomb, <br />pits and other defects. <br />r <br />2. <br />Units shall not be stripptd from the forms until the <br />strength of the <br />concrete has reached 2500 psi. <br />3. <br />Hand <br />steel trowel the unformed side of the column to <br />a smooth, dense, <br />hard surface free from pits, holes and other irregularities. <br />4. <br />Furnish and cast in inserts and steel shapes as shown <br />on drawings. <br />5. <br />The precaster shall install anchor bolts for precast <br />columns. <br />B . Beams: <br />1. Units shall be fabricated in a-cordance with ACI Standard 318-71 and <br />the Prestressed Concrete Institute Standards for Prestressed Concrete <br />Planks. <br />2. Units shall <br />be cast in approved <br />steel forms or plastic coated plywood <br />forms. All <br />exposed surfaces of <br />units shall have a smooth, dense, true <br />surface free <br />of honeycomb pits and other defects. <br />3. Units shall <br />be cured in a humid <br />atmosphere until the required transfer <br />strength is <br />reached. <br />10. ERECTION <br />A. Contractor shall <br />be responsible for <br />guying, shoring, and bracing of frame <br />and individual members <br />to resist wind, <br />erection, or other forces that may <br />occur before structure <br />is completed. <br />B. Erect members using only skilled personnel working under experienced and <br />competent superintendent, 1 <br />C. Use only erection eyjipment adequate for placing units. Do not damage <br />units with equipment or during erection. Erect units using lifting <br />handles cast in members, <br />5264 SECTION 03430 - 4 f <br />1 <br />
