J <br />DIVISION 6 <br />WOODS AND PLASTICS <br />06170 - PREFABRICATED WOOD TRUSSES <br />C. Truss members shall be clamped in a mechanical or hydraulic jig with <br />sufficient pressure to bring the members into reasonable contact at all <br />joints during the application of connector plates. If the truss is <br />removed from the jig to apply plates to the reverse side, care shall be <br />taken handling the truss to prevent opening of the joints. <br />D. Connector plates shall be applied to both faces of truss at each joint and <br />shall be accurately placed to the dimensions and locations shown on the <br />patentee's engineering drawings. <br />E. Where nails are required, the proper number shall be driven in firmly, and <br />deep enough to hold the plate accurately in position while i <br />pressed into the lumber. t �s being <br />F. Where camber is specified, it shall be provided by a simple adjustment of <br />the jig in the normal manufacturing process. <br />G. <br />Each truss shall carry the permanently affixed stamp of the fabricator <br />indicating the <br />name and location of the plant, the <br />P � connector plate <br />patentee's na.ne or trademark and the truss identification number with <br />reference to the shop and setting drawings. <br />6. <br />HANDLINGAND PLACING <br />A. <br />Fabricated units shall be carefully handled in a manner which will not <br />subject them to undue side -sway stresses. <br />B. <br />The members shall be stockpiled, transported and stored at the job site so <br />that bending on the <br />vertical axis will be reduced to a minimum. <br />C. <br />The main lift points on members shall be as close to the final support <br />as is <br />points practicable. <br />D. <br />Support points on carriers shall be provided in as many places and in such <br />a manner as may be required to keep the trusses from being damaged during <br />delivery to the job site. <br />E. <br />Framing anchors and truss hangers shall be provided and placed where <br />required and all bracing and bridging shall be solidly, complete and ready <br />to receive the roof sheathing and ceiling material. <br />1 <br />1 <br />5264 <br />SECTION 06170 - 3 <br />
