FML, Inc.
'
STS Project 93589
August 28, 1985
-10-
3. Floor Slab Design
1
garage
The floors for the
four- lex units w
p ill be a tuck -under
design with slab on -grade
floors, at approximately the present
round sur
face rface elevations.
We recommend that the existing topsoil
be stripped, and the loose
surficial soil be surface compacted or
removed and replaced using
proper densification in the area of the
garage floor slab. Where
fill materials will be required to sup-
port floor slabs, the fill
should be compacted to at least 95% of
the maximum Modified Proctor dry density. This would include
-
backfill against foundation walls and utility trenches below floors
and under sidewalk areas.
4. Pavement Design
The predominant soil type in the natural soil areas which will
comprise the roadway subgrade materials for this project will be
' silty fine sand. Recommendations for stripping in paved areas and
densification of surficial soils or fill materials have been pre-
viously discussed. For a subgrade consisting of silty fine sand,
we recommend that a Hveem Stabilometer value of 50, or a California
- Searing Ratio (CBR) value of 20 be used for designing the pavement
t thickness. The fine v 1 pavement design should be based on traffic
loading, frequency and volume, as well as soil types.
EXISTING FILL AREAS
1. Earthwork
Within the area of known existing fill deposits, some development
is anticipated. Two four-p,lex buildings will be located near the
northern end of the existingfill
area, and bituminous drives and
parking areas are anticipated. Utilities on the site will connct
with existing utilities in Victoria Avenue, and will extend through
the fill area.
1
