Minnesota 55113.,
Dear Members of the Roseville Planning Commission:
Telephone 488-6661
At a "Dream Night" meeting of Roseville Lutheran Congregation nearly ten years
ago, a desire was expressed that Roseville Lutheran Congregation be invo
a project that would provide for senior housing in our community. lIh in
Sin
been at Roseville Lutheran Church in the past two years, that interest
haveterest has in-
creased to a point of a committee being established and currently involved in
a project that would provide housing for senior citizens. We have also
out a survey soliciting interest by our members regarding senior housingsent
monthly newsletter. There was more interest than we anticipated bot bin our
older members and others who expressed interest on behalf of are h by our
Church Council is very supportive of the project beintj proposed buts. Our
Housing Task Force. P y our Senior
We believe that medium priced senior housing in the Roseville Comm
meet a very significant need. Such a project would not have an federa would
fund-
ing nor would there be any request for local taxation considerate al tax increment financing. Rather there would be an increase of thetax
sas
e
Of the property where it would be located. ax base
Many of our seniors recognize the amount of work and effort needed
o
a private dwelling. Some of them feel that they are no longer up tothaitask.
A housing project such as this would provide independent housinge v task.
thins in a community of people with many of the same interests andyet involve
c olve
concerns.
Furthermore, as single family dwellings might be available when people
move into such a housing project, we would anticipate that a number of thole
homes would be purchased by families with young children who would be enrolse
led
in our school district and be served by our public schools. We are ed
about the dwindling school enrollments. We believe a project such asothis d
would have a ripple effect that could be beneficial to our school . s st m
Y em
