Page 11 - #120-10689
Drain Tile
The natural soils encountered in some areas of this site are somewhat
impervious and may retard drainage of backfill material. We therefore
recommend a perimeter drain tile system be installed at or slightly
below lower floor elevation to provide proper drainage of the backfill
soils and reduce potential moisture prob" s.
Lateral Earth Pressure and Exterior Backfill
Foundation walls will be subjected to lateral loads due to the backfill
material. Relatively clean granular soils exert the lowest lateral
pressure on foundation walls. We, therefore, recommend exterior
backfill be a relatively clean sand with less than 10% passing the #200
sieve. This material should be compacted to a minimum of 95% of
standard Proctor. We recommend the foundation walls be designed to
resist lateral loads based on an equivalent fluid weight of 40 pounds
per cubic foot.
We also recommend the exterior granular backfill be capped off with
approximately 12" of cohesive soil to reduce surface infiltration; and
the exterior grade should be sloped downward and outward away from the
proposed building.
SOIL exr--XORBt1®n
earNrr
