installed under the stop signs. It would be desirable to place
guide signs directing motorists to the only exit to Fairview and
away from this entrance point (see Figure 6 - Traffic Control
Signing) .
Some motorists will want to drive directly from Rosedale
Marketplace to the Rosedale Regional Shopping Center. For that
reason, the possibility of allowing motorists to exit using the
relocated south driveway intersection was addressed. As a matter
of principle, such a plan makes sense. The major benefits are
that vehicles would have direct access to the Rosedale Regional
shopping center and that vehicles could exit to the south with a
traffic signal to create gaps. There are, however, several site -
specific problems that a two-way south uriveway would create for
the Marketplace site, and they aYc> as follows:
- There would be the potential for internal site interference in
which the internal circulation could break down. Customers
exiting a Fairview south driveway at the same time that a
truck enters could block the driveway. Also, exiting traffic
waiting at the traffic signal would frequently cause a queue
that blocks the entry to the rear service bays.
- The
southeast corner
of the site would
laye some parking
stalls
bccauve of the
wider aisle needed
for two-way traffic.
A two-wjy drive will
also be very clove
to the building and
may
the
be difficult for Pedestrians who park
drive.
to the cast to cross
Since tier--ro will be a
Marketplace customers
right out oxi", to
Fairview to
the north,
through the
Fairview
wishing to get to Rosedale
north driveway,
would exit
Fairview Avenue
and
nako
a loft turn into
a right turn onto
Rosedale at the
intersection,
tho
or they
could use the :,lain
north exit,
now
-ind get to
Ro°-cdalo
Regional
shopping center vla
County l O Itl
? .
For vour_hboun(,i traffic on Fairview, the t;olltE it
rivewa' i.r
;sentiall", a ttery ice c n It ra ncc and. would b.- e d a*1-0r.0
e-clusive1; by truck., Sand other votlicioj .
Bccausc :;C—i-trzt i ler trucks would be m.% inq the -ot.zthbourici right
turn, con-Ldet`ation w,-%---* g.1van to provic int) a r icji. ItAlrn
th : drfPf,w.iy. ::such a turn 1.tro '»'culd h. e t Yes: ors  t_xl Ito..
because it ;,r'Qtxp9'ld Asa►} •: l t t►-ticks to }deyc ele' 4 - n;3 t s:4r into tho
site, thun e-au..►inn :%ajiatal I ntert.ileifoe 6:- with 4<4,e.Y '.3 111 11M'f
ud
through traffic .
