Wenger
Barton-Aschman Associates, Inc.
DATE: February 8, 1985
Subject: PROPOSED ACCESS TO FASHION MALL
DEVELOPMENT IN ROSEVILLE
One can expect that the proposed development of the Fashion Mall
will generate about 300 trips inbound and 400 trips outbound during
the P.M. peak hours which controls design. As a rule of thumb, one
can assume the capacity of a traffic lane is about 500 vehicles per
lane. Without having done a detailed traffic study, it is reasonable
to assume that the proposed center's access can be handled with two
entrance3. Therefore, one access to fairview and one access to
CSAH B-2 should suffice.
Access to the proposed center for CSAH B-2 is primarily from the
east (estimated to be 60 - 70 percent). The Rosedale driveway
nearest Fairview on CSAH B-2 serves traffic to the regional center
primarily from the west and north. Therefore, separating the two
entrances will not only reduce the volumes from a single inter-
section but will also avoid the major volumes being presented as
opposing left turns. This reduces the probability that additional
signals would be required at any intersection along CSAH B-2.
