'Merila and Associates
STS Project 93492
December 19, 1984
MM
Soil Conditions
' The specific soil conditions found at each borin
g location are shown on
the respective boring logs in the Appendix. In -general,
a sequence of
Silty or sandy clay fill was encountered, extend'
15.5 ft below ground surface. In some locatiOng to depths of 4.0 to
ons, this fill was over-
lying buried topsoil deposits or mixed with organic soils. This fill
overlies grayish -brown to gray silty clays which
extended to the end of
the borings.
The fill deposits encountered in the borin s were
e of variable consis-
tency and texture. In general, fill soils contain
ed traces of organic
in most borings, or. fill was deposited directly on organic topsoils as
_ in borings 20, 21 and 23.
Underlying the fill soils, the silty or sand clays Y
moist and stiff to very stiff, except by ys we.e generally
p borings 22 and 23 where the
underlying natural soils were wet and firm to Stiff in consistency,
Ground Water Conditions
Ground water level measurements -were taken during the drilling
operations and immediately upon completion of th
encountered in borings 20, 22 and 23 de borings. Water was
during the drilling operations at
depths ranging from 14.0 to 7.0 ft below the existing
This corresponds to a range ground surface.
9 in elevations from 909,4 ft to 915.5 ft
..
