We desperately need your ideas and programs which you have used in the promotion
of the APWA in your respective Chapters. Additionally, we will be establishing
a task force at the National IAM level in hopes of strengthening the
communication link between National and the parallel Chairs. It would seem that
this would be the only way that we can really build strength as an organization.
Unless we are capitalizing on the beneficial programs and ideas of individual
Chapters and disseminating this information to other Chapters, we have failed
in our mission of promoting good practices in the Public Works field.
We would appreciate your Officers and your IAM Committee Chair to review the
goals that have been approved by the National IAM Institute. We have written
objectives for a number of these goals and now the major task emerges as to an
action plan for their implementation. It is our hope now for implementation of
these new goals and establishing time tables for accomplishment of objectives.
One of the objectives of the National IAM is to provide more communications to
individual Chapters. In the past, we have attempted to use Pro Views as our
principal tool for communications, In the future an effort will be made by the
president of IAM to communicate bi-annually to Chapter Offices and the parallel
Chairs. We will further attempt to have involvement of Chapters at Congress
particularly IAM workshops to accomplish this mission. We will be soliciting
ideas from the Chapters as to what subjects they would prefer having discussed
in the workshops.
Any views that you have on this subject would be most welcome.
ncer 6,y
Francis A.
