MEMORANDUM
Page Five
pril 10, 1989
Parking decks will be precast concrete. Fascia panels ill add color aid texture by
exposing granite aggregates.
New skylights will be added to the mall area which will significantly brighten and,
open up the interior space.
Entry canopies over the existing mall entries will be rebuilt along with adding a new
entry from the upper level of the south parking deck. 'The canopies are designed to
be a glazed gabled element which can be easily seen and identified. It is proposed to
introduce color into the glass and mullions to help make the entries more inviting.
Howard Dahigren asked if the color/materials in the ramp pick up on any of the materials
in the Center. Dennis responded that the deck would not directly reflect any specific parts
of the Center. The color of fascia panels would probably tend to warm reds as that is the
color of granite aggregates most easily obtained. Doug McChane added that the design
will be more than just a grey concrete fascia panel and that the deck will be built to endure.
He mentioned that the Southdale ramp is a similar design.
Doug McChane stated that the staging of construction would probably bd somewhat easier
than at Southdale and that the expected disruption should be minimal as employed
parking is easier to quantify and the staging of parking ramp construction would prevent
Any major loss of parking at one time.
8.
