February 24, 1989
City of Roseville
Minor Variance Committee
Dear Sirs:
I am requesting a minor variance to have the driveway on the
west side of my property reconstructed in the same location
when they reconstruct Ruggles Street this summer. This
driveway is presently not within code because' it does not
extend at least 20 feet onto my property. My main driveway is
.
located on the east side of my property and s a single car
driveway.
I believe i`. would cause me a. hardship if this second driveway
could not be reconstructed in approximatly the same location
its in now because of the following reasons:
1) To make this driveway conform to Rosevilles code, I would
have to extended the driveway approximatly IS feet into my
property.
To accomplish this, I would have to remove a very atractive
and valuable 10 trunk (6" to 10" Dia. trunks) mature Birch
tree clump and a mature 30 foot high Pine tree.
2) If I have to abandon this driveway and only have the
single width main driveway to use for my two vehicles, I
will have to park one vehicle behind the other. In
addition to moving vehicles because one is blocking the
one used, there is the problem of: having the last one in
the driveway not start while having the one that's
blo:ked start.
3) To relocate this second driveway to a location adjacent to
my main driveway on the East side of my property is not
desireable because it would be located on top ,-if the
natural gas service line that runs to my house. NSP has
dug holes on this line two or three times in the last
couple of years.
A second car parked in a driveway adjacent to the main
driveway would interfere with people walking on the
entrance sidewalk to my house (mailman uses it every day).
