Cottage Grove - John McCool, Ass It Planner #458-2800
Cottage Grove doesn't regulate - no provisions. It is not a
concern for this city. Limited retail area to begin with.
No ordinance to send.
2. New Bria,hton - Ernie Mattila, Planning #631-8340
They do not allow exterior storage of merchandise for sale.
ATV s, snowblowers, etc. in business districts are not allowed to
display out of doors. They are contemplating tying the amount of
exterior storage allowed in industrial districts to the size of
the building.
Example: Light Industrial district - 20% of building area. This
is regulated with conditions such as screening, set-
back from building, etc.
Business districts are not allowed any outside storage or
merchandising except for Auto Dealerships. He mentioned that it
is very had to enforce this ordinance - not many complaints.
Is sending ordinance.
3. Shoreview - Tom Simonson, Planning #484-3353
There are two parts to their ordinance.
1. Outside storage and merchandising may be granted in a
Conditional Use Permit, usually at the time of development.
The area is verified for outside storage standards.
2. Temporary use permits are more generally used for special
sales (such as sidewalk), and are taken out by existing
businesses.
Is sending ordinance.
4. Maplewood - Jeff Olson, Planning #770-4500
Their ordinance is outdated. They only allow outside storage and
merchandising in the Business/Commercial District and it only
applies to building materials, such as a Knox Lumber. They do
not regulate convenience or garden stores.
I
Is sending ordinance.
