�y4b. <br />xW <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 6-12-89 <br />ITEM NO.: <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />Hearings <br />Item Description: Proposed ordinance amendment regarding <br />outside display of merchandise. <br />The City Council, at its April 24, 1989 meeting continued the public <br />hearing concerning a proposed ordinance amendment regarding outside <br />display of merchandise until June 12, 1989. The City Council <br />discussed this matter at the May 15, 1989 work session and directed <br />staff to eliminate storage maintenance and merchandising display of <br />landscaping plant materials as a permitted type of outside display <br />and merchandise and treat it like other outside display covered in <br />the proposed ordinance amendment. The effect of this is 'to require <br />that businesses involved in the outside display of landscape plant <br />materials, come in and obtain a special use permit from the City as <br />outlined in the attached ordinance. Staff has also added language <br />to prohibit obstruction of walkways adjacent to driving aisles. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to approve/deny zoning ordinance <br />amendments pertaining to outside display <br />of <br />merchandise. <br />
