In 1962, Roseville's Target Store occupied a building
originally built for the Jubilee store system (which never
did develop in the Twin City's Area). The Roseville store
is known as T-1, the first of over 300 stores in the
national system. As was the policy in those days, there was
always a supermarket next to a Target Store Many of these
were Applebaum Markets, which was the case here in Roseville
and later occupied by the Nolan Group Market system.
2. The Roseville store has been very successful, being at or
near the top in per square foot sales for the Target system.
This store is substandard in size and the Target people were
recently able to regain the use of that portion of the
building formally occupied by the supermarket.
3. Therefore, they propose to totally remodel the store on the
interior and exterior. They will utilize the existing
storage space (the north end of the building) for a sales
floor and utilize most of the former supermarket space for
stock room. In addition, there will be a 10,320 square foot
addition at the southeast corner of the building, to which a
proposed new loading dock and trash facility will be
accommodated.
4. Attached is a statement prepared by the Target people along
with five drawings illustrating the development proposal.
The staff has met with representatives of the Target
organization on several occasions at City Hall. These
representatives have been Forest Russell, a registered
Landscape Architect with Target Stores for many years, and
Dennis Anderson, Architect AIA. These gentlemen have been
very cooperative and helpful in working_ with the staff
toward a revised site plan solution.
yr
