In the Bandag method of retreading, tires
are received at the'Bandag Dealer, thoroughly inspected and repaired as necessary
for processing. Tires are buffed on a Bandag Buffer. To remove the remaining
tread from the tire, metal blades are used in conjunction with a pollution
control/dust collection system. The pollution control system sprays water during
the buffing operation to reduce a cetemphefficiency cyclonewhereit isstoredin
rature eesmoke.
The
buffed rubber
particles are then conveyed y 8
hopper until such time as the hopper is emptied.
ire is
in a
After buffing, smaller imsuineconstruction and performanceare skived out by hand. htotall OSHAeregulations.
spray booth which conform
Next, filling of skive injuries is performed using the repair gum extruder.
A precured tread is then applied to the prepared casing, either the shorty spreader
and stitcher, or a semi -automatic tread builder. The tire is enveloped, rimmed
and flanged, and placed in t$taalmaximumsed hot air temperaturecofing 2i0chamber degreesfor a Fahrenheit
of three hours and +0 minutes
This curing bonds the tread to the casing.
Final inspection is accomplished after curing prior to the tire being placed into
service.
At no time during the Bandag process is the tire subjected to extreme heat or
extreme air pressure. Steam, electrical, or oil fired boilers are not used.
Flammable materials are kept to a minimum within the shop. Exhausting of flammable
vapors in the cement booth is accomplished through use of the cement booth, which
is vented to the outside. The dust collector, when properly calibrated and
maintained, has an efficiency of collection of 99.9%.
This equipment is used in over 540 Bandag Franchise Dealer locations within the
United States. This equipment meets all building or municipal code/regulations.
