Here again it looks like Northwestern is trying to turn a <br />country school into a city h.ighrise. Covering the borders of <br />this area with a few manicured trees and bushes will <br />o <br />the impact for the wildlife who enjoy the area nor for the <br />mitigate <br />residents along Little Lake Johanna who have purposely <br />escape from metropolitan settings to be able to enJjo y sought <br />Y the country <br />in their back yard. <br />Pollution and runoff, if not properly controlled will e <br />the shoreline, Little Jeffect <br />Johanna is a designated settling pond in <br />a chain reaction of drainage and filling from creeks to recreational <br />lakes. If the lake silts at a faster rate than anticipated because <br />of the development on the west and south side of the <br />tripple effect will be felt on Lake Johanna, deteriorating the <br />quality of the water for both passive and active recreation. it <br />is not possible to isolate Little Johanna from Rice Creek <br />which <br />feeds it, or from Lake Johanna which it feeds into. In the same <br />way, it is not possible to isolate the campus of Northwestern Colle e <br />from the ripple effect it has on the community it has choseng <br />reside within, to <br />Groundwater quality and levels have not been addressed. The <br />same soil bore samplings which would indicate the capacity <br />proposed system to handle runoff would tell us how munch seepoa the <br />from automobile and other waste will reach the water table.ge <br />Surface water quality on Little Lake Johanna will be adversely <br />affected if we have the runoff from par-kinq lots and other r <br />und <br />Pollutants in_ the water. There is abundant wildlife which enoovs <br />the water includina multiple species of water fowl and birds, <br />otters. fish and small animals. While these creatures are eniovina <br />their area. the -residents are eniovina the wildlife presence.
