Air quality and noise will be affected by the increased
traffic flow from athletic events held on the campus. The college
can only provide limited amounts of protection to the residents
of the surrounding community. If this level of developement
is indeed necessary tothe life and health of the college, perhaps
they need to consider a home with more land upon which to develop.
In summary, petitioners feel the effect on the following a
aspects should be looked into more deeply:
Scenic pollution
Fish and Wildlife
Hazardous and solid waste
Energy
Roads and traffic
Air quality and noise
Surface water quality
Groundwater quality and levels
Shoreland and floodplains
Soil Geology
Effect on local land use and local plans and ordinances.
5. Material evidence that because of the nature of the project
there may be significant environmental impact.
Petitioners can only argue again what they have already
presented. Enviornmental impact includes scenic impact, which
will certainly be impaired. The plan proposed construction of
a 55 foot high building, beginning at a level of 28 feet up from
the shoreline on Little Lake Johanna. The building will obviously
not be in conformance with the rural nature of the area and
will impact it greatly. In effect, no matter what care it taken
with the architecture, where now there is wildlife and woods, the
residents along Johanna will see a huge, 89,000- sq. ft. building.
0
M
