aff
etter and more usable
udios would be
The radio facility would simply give e)dsting Stan bwould be more fle7abiesthan thetspace currenly
designed to meet stricter sound requirements
being used. In any event, the radio facility would not generate any additional traffic.
The proposed library is also simply a shift from one space to another. Apart from and unrelated
to the College's population growth, the Northwestern College library collection has outgrown its
current space and load capacity. If the College were not to grow even one more student, the need
for a new library would remain critical. It is therefore not anticipated that the library itself will
generate any more traffic or parking concern.
While the proposed facilities will not in themselves create additional parking needs, Northwestern
is sensitive to the city's concerns for adequate parking, and will be responsive to the city's
requirements. Studies are currently underway to identify additional parking spaces that would have
minimal visual impact for neighbors. (See accompanying parking plan.)
The Schedule
Perhaps a word about possible time lines is in order: the granting of a PUD by the city of Arden
Hills will trigger a request for a building permit to construct the library. The College is currentlfor current
deep into an almost 19 million dollar campaign. The campaigns goals include moneyo
operating needs, endowment, radio projects --not including the proposed radio building included in
the PUD--the library and a physical education center to be located on the Roseville portion of the
campus (previously approved by Roseville).
The capital campaign has been designed to span five years. The College is one year into the
campaign, and has already raised approximately 56% of the library project in cash and pledges. It
alized soon and construction would begin as soon as
is anticipated that the remaining 44% will be re
possible.
While projections can always change with the advent of a major gift, the additional proposed
construction of a radio facility and Nazareth infill project are not anticipated for some years. The:
current capital campaign has four more years to run and neither the radio facility or the Nazareth
infill are a part of the current campaign. The radio facility
beanumber of years off with
would probably
he
some years from now, and the Nazareth infill would probably
proposed addition of a new library facility.
2
