daytime hours, and conforming to the city's truck <br />route system. Facility operational noise at the <br />truck dock loading/unloading area will be minimal due <br />to design requirements. <br />25. Describe <br />hazardous <br />location <br />the type and amount of solid waste and/or <br />waste that will be generated and the method and <br />of disposal. <br />The facility will process incoming wastes not amenable to <br />recovery into either inert solid residuals or mixed metal <br />sludges. In the event that these wastes are processed into <br />fixed solids, approximately 800 tons of solids in the form <br />of inert blocks composed of cement and other fixation <br />substances combined with trace amounts of mixed metals will <br />be generated annually as a processing residual. In the <br />alternative, if these wastes are processed into sludges, <br />approximately 400 tons of partially dewatered mixed metal <br />sludges will be generated annually as a process residual. <br />Solid inert substances generated dill be disposed at MPCA <br />approved sanitary landfills in Minnesota. Mixed metal <br />sludges will be disposed at approved hazardous waste <br />facilities located in other states. See Table I. page <br />Al2.5 in Attachment 6 for a description of projected waste <br />quantities for primary users of the proposed facility. <br />The facility will also serve as a collection station for <br />small quantities of organic wastes. These wastes will be <br />combined with like wastes destined for similar final <br />treatment or disposal, and shipped in full truck load <br />quantities to hazardous waste disposal facilities. This <br />capacity will assist small and intermediate quantity <br />generators which constitute a high percentage of all <br />generators in Minnesota. <br />The drum storage area will be capable of holding a maximum <br />of 1,500 drums at one time; the expected average being <br />about 1,000. The storage area floor will be a continuous <br />concrete pad, elevated in the center and sloping down on <br />both sides to form two separate areas for handling <br />incompatible wastes. Drums will be grouped according to <br />method of final processing indicated by the generator on <br />the manifest or bill of lading. The building will have a <br />truck access opening and will be equipped with safety <br />showers, fire detectors and extinguishers, a sprinkler <br />system, two sumps, and other safety features required by <br />governmental regulation. <br />Wastes brought to the facility will be tested for agreement <br />with manifest description and suitability of the final <br />processing method indicated by the generator on the <br />manifest. Only compatible wastes will be placed in the <br />same area. Partial drums of the same waste material may be <br />10. <br />
