1
 MINNEAPOLIS BUSINESS COLLEGE
POLICIES AND REGULATIONS
1
1 Tuition Refund
To be eligible for a PRO RATA tuition adjustment
based on instructional days, a student must submit
notice of withdrawal. The last date of attendance will
t determine the amount of tuition n;fund.
Application Policy
If for any reason an enrolled student is unable to
begin classes in 1983, their application to
Minneapolis Business College will remain effective
for three academic years, provided the student has
been accepted for admission to Minneapolis
Business College.
Dress Code
Students are expected to dress in appropriate
business attire. As prospective employers and other
business people visit the school they base their
opinions of the school upon the students they see.
Therefore, your future position may partially depend
on your classroom attire.
Grade Reports
Grade reports are mailed to students at their
permanent address approximately four times for the
10-Month program and three times for Cooperative
Honors Program.
Grading System
Letter grades are assigned as a final grade in each
course. The following scale is used:
Grade Numerical Value
A
93-100 Superior
B
85-92 Above Average
C
77-84 Average
D
F
70-76 Passing
Below 70 Failure
I
Incomplete
1
Attendance Policy
1. After a student has exceeded the number of
allowed absences, each subsequent absence will
result in a deduction of one percentage point from
his final average.
For example, a student in a twelve -week course
who had from zero to six absences would not be
penalized. A student who missed ten classes in the
same course would be over the allotted limit byfour
absences. These absences would represent a
4 percent point deduction from the overall grade
average. If the final grade average were a 92, the
subtraction of four points would give the student an
88 for the course.
2. Each three tardies will automatically convert to one
absence.
3. The distinction between excused absences and
unexcused absences has always been, at best,
ambiguous, and is, therefore, eliminated.
4. Absences for school -initiated job interviews should
not be counted as long as the instructor received
written verification from the Placement Director.
5. Students are not required to call the school to
explain their absences.
Academic Standards
Upon successful completion with a "C" average
(minimum) of all subjects included in an elected
program, and after the discharge of all financial
obligations, the student will have earned a
Minneapolis Business College Diploma, a recognized
symbol of success in the business world.
If a student is doing unsatisfactory work, parents
are notified and individual counseling is offered. A
permanent record of grades and other appropriate
information is kept in the school offices. Students
who fail to do acceptable work, who have excessive
absences, or whose conduct tends to reflect
unfavorably upon MBC or they student body will be
requested to withdraw.
As indicated in the above paragraph, MBC
reserves the right to dismiss a student. This may
occur at any point in the program whenever it
becomes apparent to the faculty and school
administration that successful completion of the
program may not be possible.
