Non-descript terms <br />o Acronyms or joining of two word, names or activities <br />Significant contribution <br />Staff provided recent park naming examples (Unity Park, Midland Gardens Park, and Keya Park) <br />and potential ways to gather name recommendations (website survey, social media, city <br />newsletter, mail). <br /> <br />The Commission discussed a possibletimeline for the park naming process and a potential <br />processes to collect name recommendations. <br /> <br />The following items were agreed upon, by the Commission, to collect potential name <br />suggestions for the new park at 2381 County Road B: <br /> Direct electronic communication to those who have already participated in the new park <br />process <br /> Localized communication to neighbors in close proximity to the new park <br /> Signs located in the park <br /> Webpage update to gather new name suggestions <br /> <br />Staff noted that an update of the suggested new names would be provided to the Commission at <br />the March, 2024 meeting. <br />b) DISCUSS POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO MITIGATE THE POSSIBLE LOSS OF <br />VETERANS PARK <br />From 2020 through 2022, the City conducted a Master Plan Study to identify solutions for <br />addressing thecurrent and future spatial needs for City support facilities including City <br />maintenance (both parks and public works), public safety, and the license center. The final <br />approved plan calls for a new maintenance facility (which would support both parks and public <br />works) to be constructed where Veterans Park is currently located. The City is currently pursuing <br />funding to begin the detailed design and ultimately construction of the facility. <br /> <br />Staff provided an overview of how Veterans Park is currently used: <br /> <br /> 3.6 Acre Park <br /> Current Uses (programmed) <br />o Youth softball <br />o Fall soccer program <br />o Senior softball <br />o Some youth programming <br /> Non-programmed: <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
