Over time, all steps on the rubber
surface (with skates or shoes) causes the rubber to wear down. We have been replacing pieces of the current rubber
every year due to it wearing through to the concrete. Replacing pieces as needed is difficult due to the nature of the
(a)
facility and foot traffic, it is not aesthetically pleasing as the look of the new rubber doesn't match. The wearing of
the rubber flooring dulls skates which can make skating dangerous as well as dimish the experience of our users as
well as the general public.
The current pain job was completed in 2014. The exterior should be painted every 10 years in order to protect the
(b)
brick from deteriorating. It also is beginning to fade, so aesthetically, it is in need of a fresh coat.
The existing boilers at the Police Department are the original boilers and are 20 years old. They are at the end of
their service life and scheduled for replacement in the 2024 CIP Budget. Staff has requested quotes from SVL
(c)
(State Contract #23010401) and Yale, with SVL coming in at a lower price for the boiler equipment. Installation
services are being requested at this moment, and will brought to the Council for approval at a later date.
The existing rooftop air conditioning unit at the police department is the original equipment and is 20 years old.
This equipment has had numerous issues and is due for replacement. The replacement is in the 2024 CIP Budget
(d)
for $275,000. This particular item is only for the equipment while staff is requesting additional quotes for
installation of the unit. The installation quote will be brought before Council at a later date.
Qbhf!276!pg!342
