1 City of Roseville <br />2 ORDINANCE NO. <br />3 <br />4 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />5 TITLE 8, SECTION 801.22 <br />6 <br />7 AMENDING TITLE 8 SECTION 801.22 OF THE ROSEVILLE CITY CODE TO <br />8 UPDATE REGULATIONS REALTED TO PRIVATE WATER SUPPLIES <br />9 <br />10 THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br />11 SECTION 1: Title 8, Section 801.22 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />12 801.22: PRIVATE WATER SUPPLIES: <br />13 A.Connection to Water System Prohibited: No water pipe of the municipal water system <br />14 shall be connected with any pump, well, tank or piping that is connected with any other <br />15 source of water supply. (Ord. 388, 4-22-1963) <br />16 <br />17 B.Continued Use after Connection to System: Single family residences that are currently on <br />18 well water but have municipal water available, must connect to the municipal water <br />19 system no later than July 31, 2035. Properties that do not connect to city water by July <br />20 31, 2035 will be charged a non-compliant water connection fee that will be determined <br />21 in the fee schedule on their utility bill. These wells can continue to be used for irrigation <br />22 provided there is no cross connections as described in paragraph A. All other Pprivate <br />23 wells may be maintained and continued in use after connection is made to the water <br />24 system, provided there is no means of cross-connection between the private well and <br />25 Municipal supply at any time. Hose bibbs that will enable the cross-connection of the two <br />26 systems are prohibited on internal piping of the well supply system. The threads on the <br />27 boiler drain of the well volume tank shall be removed or the boiler drain bibb replaced <br />28 with a sink faucet. Where both private and City systems are in use, outside hose bibbs <br />29 shall not be installed on both systems. Existing wells that discharge to the sanitary sewer <br />30 systems must have a water meter installed to calculate sanitary sewer charges. <br />31 <br />32 C.New Construction: <br />33 <br />34 1.Water Main Available: All new homes or buildings shall connect to the Municipal <br />35 water system if a water main is available to the propertyunless the City Council <br />36 approves a private well where unusual circumstances exist. <br />37 <br />38 2.Water Main Unavailable: Where new homes or buildings do not have a water main <br />39 available to the property, the City Council shall determine whether and under what <br />40 conditions the Municipal water system will be extended to serve the property or a <br />41 private well allowed. (Ord. 530, 3-20-1967) <br />42 <br />43 D.Existing Private Water System: Existing private water systems may be continued and <br />44 maintained.
