38 E. Location: A courtesy bench shall be placed parallel to and no nearer than four feet from <br />39 the roadway curb or the edge of the roadway where no curb exists and shall not obstruct a <br />40 pathway. A bench may be located on a sidewalk, provided that the minimum remaining <br />41 width of the sidewalk after bench installation is six feet. No bench shall be fixed to any city <br />42 property including city sidewalks, utility poles and signs without prior approval of the city. <br />43 <br />44 F. Number: No more than one bus courtesybench may be placed at a roadway intersection in <br />45 the direction of traffic flow, unless the Public Works Director authorizes more benches in <br />46 writing after finding that the passenger load justifies more than one courtesy bench at a bus <br />47 stop. All bus benches shall bear the local telephone number at which the permittee may be <br />48 reached concerning issues with the bench. <br />49 <br />50 G. Proximity to Other Benches Structures: No bus courtesy bench may be placed within 500 <br />51 feet of any other bench or within 15 feet of an existing on a roadway, unless the Public <br />52 Works Director authorizes more benches in writing after finding that the passenger load <br />53 justifies more than one courtesy bench at a bus stop or closer proximity. Courtesy Bench <br />54 shall not be located within 5 feet of fire hydrants, driveways, or crosswalks. <br />55 <br />56 H. Size: The maximum size of a bench shall be three and one-half feet high, seven feet long <br />57 and three feet wide erected upon a concrete pad, or approved of equal, of a maximum eight <br />58 foot eight-foot length and four foot four-foot width. The maximum amount of advertising <br />59 on a bus bench shall not exceed eleven square feet. <br />60 <br />61 I. ADA Compliance: All benches in construction and location must comply with the <br />62 Americans with Disabilities Act. <br />63 <br />64 J. Color: A bench shall be of a single color except a multicolored advertising sign. The bench <br />65 signage may be affixed to or may be used as the backrest of the bench. Signage shall be <br />66 affixed only to the street-side portion of the bench backrest <br />67 <br />68 K. Material: Materials used in constructing benches must be constructed using durable <br />69 materials including, but not limited to, wood, steel, concrete, or plastic. <br />70 <br />71 L. Advertising: Courtesy benches may display Signs as defined by Roseville City Code Sec. <br />72 1010.02 (A)(1) and must be approved by the Director of Public Works. Such signs do not <br />73 require a sign permit. Such signs may not contain a dynamic display. The maximum <br />74 amount of advertising on a bus bench shall not exceed eleven square feet and may only be <br />75 displayed on the front surface of the back rest. <br />76 <br />77 M. Structure Maintenance: When directed by the Public Works Director as necessary to <br />78 address refuse and litter issues, bench sites shall be equipped with an architecturally <br />79 complementary trash receptacle.
