Location: A Courtesy Bench shall be placed parallel to and no nearercloser than four feet <br />39 from the roadway curb or the edge of the roadway where no curb exists and shall not <br />40 obstruct a pathway. A bench may be located on a sidewalk, provided that the minimum <br />41 remaining width of the sidewalk after bench installation is six feet. No bench shall be fixed <br />42 to any city property including city sidewalks, utility poles and signs without prior approval <br />43 of the City. <br />44 <br />45 F. Number: No more than one bus Courtesy Bench may be placed at a roadway intersection <br />46 in the direction of traffic flow, unless the Public Works Director authorizes more benches <br />47 in writing after finding that the passenger load justifies more than one Courtesy Bench at a <br />48 bus stop. All bus benches shall bear the local telephone number at which the permittee may <br />49 be reached concerning issues with the bench. <br />50 <br />51 G. Proximity to Other Benches Structures: No bus Courtesy Bench may be placed within 500 <br />52 feet of any other bench or within 15 feet of an existing Transit Shelter on a roadway, unless <br />53 the Public Works Director authorizes more Courtesy Benches in writing after finding that <br />54 the passenger load justifies more than one Courtesy Bench at a bus stop or closer proximity. <br />55 Courtesy Benches shall not be located within 5 feet of fire hydrants, driveways, or <br />56 crosswalks. <br />57 <br />58 H. Size: The maximum size of a Courtesy Bench shall be three and one-half feet high, seven <br />59 feet long and three feet wide erected upon a concrete pad, or approved of equal, ofa <br />60 maximum eight foot eight-foot length and four foot four-foot width. The maximum amount <br />61 of advertising on a bus bench shall not exceed eleven square feet. <br />62 <br />63 I. ADA Compliance: All Courtesy Benches in construction and location must comply with <br />64 the Americans with Disabilities Act. <br />65 <br />66 J. Color: A Courtesy Bench shall be of a single color except a multicolored advertising sign. <br />67 The bench signage may be affixed to or may be used as the backrest of the Courtesy Bench. <br />68 Signage shall be affixed only to the street-side portion of the Courtesy Bench backrest <br />69 <br />70 K. Material: Materials used in constructing Courtesy Benchesmust be constructed using <br />71 durable materials including, but not limited to, wood, steel, concrete, or plastic. <br />72 <br />73 L. Advertising: Courtesy Benches may display Signs as defined by Roseville City Code Sec. <br />74 1010.02 (A)(1) and must be approved by the Director of Public Works. Such signs do not <br />75 require a sign permit. Such signs may not contain a dynamic display. The maximum <br />76 amount of advertising on a Courtesy Bench shall not exceed eleven square feet and may <br />77 only be displayed on the front surface of the back rest. <br />78 <br />79 M.
