Excerpt of <br />Roseville Public Works, Environment <br />and Transportation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 6:30p.m. <br />City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Roseville, Minnesota 55113 <br />1 1.Introduction / Roll Call <br />2 Chair Ficekcalled the meeting to order at approximately 6:30 p.m. and at his <br />3 request, Public Works Director Jesse Freihammercalled the roll. <br />4 <br />5 Present:Chair Bryant Ficek; and Members Jarrod Cicha, Daniel Fergus, <br />6 Edwin Hodder, Allison Luongo, Des Mueller, and Sarah Rudolf <br />7 <br />8 Absent: None. <br />9 <br />10 Staff Present:Public Works Director Jesse Freihammer; and Assistant <br />11 Public Works Director/City Engineer Jennifer Lowry <br />12 <br />13 7.Lighting Policy <br />14 Public Works Director Jesse Freihammer explained the City last updated the <br />15 lighting policy in 2003. He reviewed the policy with the Commission and asked for <br />16 feedback and a recommendation to be made to the City Council. <br />17 <br />18 Member Fergus indicatedhe was in favor of the dark sky lighting and would love <br />19 it if something were in the policy regarding this when new lighting or replacing <br />20 lighting. He also thought instead of one hundred percent resident agreement for <br />21 lighting there should be a percentage of resident agreement because not everyone <br />22 is going to agree on getting new lights installed and where. He noted he was also in <br />23 favor of the different uses and different spacing on land residential versus <br />24 commercial. <br />25 <br />26 Vice-Chair Mueller concurred with whatMember Fergus stated. <br />27 <br />28 Member Rudolf explained she was supportive of having the separation between the <br />29 three divisions Mr. Freihammer mentioned about residential, commercial,and <br />30 special district. She also wondered as a female walking around, there are certain <br />31 areas that are really dark, and she was not expecting the City to pave her walking <br />32 route with streetlights,but she also wondered if there was a way to consider the <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Qbhf!72!pg!614 <br /> <br />
