Soils will be tested annually to assess soil health benefits of the compost amendments. All areas have
experiencedpositive change, but the compost top-
hope to estimate how many years the plant establishment was accelerated due to compost topdressing.
Topography also seems to be more of a factor than expected. The flat areas near the path haveshownincreased soil
health, taking advantage of capturednutrients and water. Theheart of the swale behaves more like a control area, despite
receiving compost. The swale is compacted, so the combination of flowing stormwater and reduced soil pores might be
.
2022Tasks
-June 13, 2022: Soil Testing
-October 10, 2022: Soil Testing
-October 15, 2022: Compost Top-dressing*
-October 18, 2022: Presented Projectat Minnesota Water Resources Conference*
-December 2, 2022: Presented Project at Minnesota Association of Professional Soil Scientist Winter Meeting*
-December 8, 2022: Presented Project at Minnesota Seeing Contractors Association Annual Meeting*
-December 2022: Data Analysis and Annual Report
*Volunteer tasks
Qbhf!5!pg!63
