<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 4/22/2024 <br />Item No.: 7.e. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br /> <br />Item Description: Consider Approval of Community Aspirations and Authorize Next <br />Steps for Receiving Strategic Planning Proposals <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 At your November 27, 2023 meeting, the City Council received the final report of the <br />4 Envision Roseiville community visioning project. The final report detailed the engagement <br />5 process that allowed the community to express ideas about how they want their community <br />6 to look and feel in the future. The themes from this engagement were further refined and <br />7 vetted to become a series of aspiration statements which articulate the community's vision <br />8(Community Aspirations). Based on the final report and staff input, the following community <br />9 aspirations are listed for the Council to consider formally adopting. These aspirations will <br />10 serve as a foundation for the next phase of strategic planning. <br />11 <br />12 Roseville aspires to be…. <br />13 A city that fosters a strong sense of community through effective and inclusive <br />14 communication, effective engagement, and collaborative decision-making <br />15 A community that is welcoming and inclusive of all people regardless of country of <br />16 origin, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preferences, age, physical ability, or <br />17 socioeconomic standing <br />18 A city where all people feel safe and secure and where mutual trust and respect are <br />19 fostered between the community and their police, fire, and all emergency responders <br />20 A community of thriving and diverse neighborhoods with quality housing and <br />21 businesses that meet the needs of, and provide opportunities for, all people <br />22 A community that embraces diversity through multicultural public programming, <br />23 public gathering spaces, and parks in ways that are suitable for all people regardless <br />24 of age, ability, or access to information <br />25 A community that treasures and preserves natural areas and open space and <br />26 prioritizes environmental conservation and sustainability <br />27 Economically prosperous with a stable and broad tax base, vibrant small <br />28 businesses, high quality employment opportunities, and a range of retail and <br />29 entertainment options <br />30 A community with a safe, inclusive, and well-connected transportation and <br />31 infrastructure systems that support the health and well-being of residents, visitors, <br />32 customers, businesses, and employees, regardless of ability, access, cultural <br />33 background, or socioeconomic standing <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />Qbhf!234!pg!33: <br /> <br />
