PUBLIC COMMENTS
From: William Bockenkamp
Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2024 7:36 PM
To: *RVCouncil <city.council@cityofroseville.com>
Cc:
Subject: Comments on the New Fence at 257 McCarrons Blvd South
Roseville City Council Members,
In October 2022 my wife and I purchased a home at 257 McCarrons Place W lot #2 (across the
street the new ugly fence on 257 McCarrons Blvd S) from the Enclave at McCarron Lake Ovation
Homes company. The deciding factor for this purchase was the sweeping panoramic view and
rural charm of the Lake McCarron neighborhood. Were it not for this view, we would not have
purchased a home in Roseville Minnesota.
Along the entire southern border of Lake McCarron there is a wooden split rail fence. The vibe
of the natural looking fence is that of a rural – country ambiance. Many days we observe
various low flying birds along the edges of the lake. Birds such as mallard ducks, loons and bald
eagles.
Now the split rail fence ends at the 600 block of McCarrons BLVD south and a large solid 6 foot
plastic fence has been newly erected further west. The fence has transformed the rural country
ambiance to an industrial office park feel.
The neighborhood is now blighted by this 6 foot solid plastic fence. A fence that could diminish
property values of home owners all along McCarrons BLVD south neighborhood. Many of the
residents are seniors (such as ourselves), living on fixed incomes with much of their monetary
self worth tied up in the equity of their homes. The plastic fence could put their financial future
at risk.
The plastic fence has no practical purpose. Security concerns of the Carrara family can be better
addressed by other means. For example, the formation of a neighborhood watch. The Carrara’s
south facing view from their home could be improved by cooperative planting of native plants
by the Enclave at McCarrons lake HOA and the city of Roseville.
My wife and I therefore petition the city of Roseville to mandate removal of the plastic fence.
Regards,
William Bockenkamp and Anna Fu
Qbhf!43!pg!331
